Exploration is the key to Half-Term fun at Explore-At-Bristol!

Thu 21 May 2009

With the holidays fast approaching and the weather still on the rainy side, there’s lots to do on the Harbourside (in the dry) at Explore-At-Bristol!

Half Term FunThe programme running at the moment is Exploration so join us on a fun-filled expedition as a member of the Explore team takes you on a journey to some of the most extreme places on Earth and beyond in the Extreme Exploration Show, pick up tricks and techniques you will need to take on an intrepid adventure at the Exploration Stations, or on the 27 and 28th May, we have some real-life explorers coming into Explore to tell you all about their adventures!

During our Meet the Expert Sessions, running throughout both days on the 27 and 28th, there will be scientists and explorers on-hand to talk about their expeditions - where they went, why they went there and will even be showing visitors what they found. The experts coming in are: Andy Wuestefeld, and colleagues, to talk about seismology (the study of earthquakes) and how he and his team have been to various countries to study their behaviour, and Bruna Bezerra who has studied the vocal communication of golden-backed Uakari (a primate found in the Amazon Basin).

Gemma Kearsley-Wooller, Learning Officer at Explore-At-Bristol, said: “The Exploration theme is really good fun, especially getting experts in to talk about actual explorations they’ve been on and what they found whilst there!

She adds: “Both children and adults are getting involved with our live shows and Exploration Stations and there are definitely lots of questions being asked, so it seems everyone’s got an interest in it. I encourage people to come to the Meet the Expert sessions as it’s not often you get the chance to ask questions to someone who’s spent weeks on location studying something, and they’re coming in to not only speak about their experiences, but also answer any burning questions people may have!”

The Meet the Expert sessions are free with a ticket to Explore-At-Bristol as is the Extreme Exploration Show.
