At-Bristol wins top award for disabled access
11 October 2004

At-Bristol is delighted to announce it has been named Best Disabled Facility in the 2004 Group Leisure Awards, held last week in London. Voted by the readers of Group Leisure Magazine, the prestigious award recognises At-Bristol’s commitment to providing access for all to its exhibitions, events and facilities.

Access was a key consideration in the design of At-Bristol’s three attractions – Explore, Wildwalk and the IMAX Theatre, with all buildings and exhibitions created in consultation with the RNIB Joint Mobility Unit. From disabled parking and hearing loops in theatres to a wheelchair lending scheme and a unique font for large print brochures, there’s plenty of evidence showing the amount of thought put into welcoming everyone.

Simon Jones, At-Bristol’s Marketing Manager says ’At-Bristol is absolutely delighted to have won this award, not least because it was voted for by the people who count – our visitors. At-Bristol aims to offer facilities and services that will be friendly and welcoming to all, whatever their requirements, so we are thrilled that this has been recognised by such an important section of the industry.‘
