Tall tales and punchy poetry in Wildwalk this bank holiday
30 April - 2 May 2005

Do you like inventing stories? If you do, don’t miss At-Bristol’s fantastic Wildstories event on Saturday 30 April, Sunday 1 and Monday 2 May in Wildwalk.

Running from 10am to 4pm daily, Wildstories is a fun packed event that gives you the chance to tell tall tales, create vibrant picture stories and join an interactive story-telling session with fellow budding bards. You can even make your mark on a giant story wall and change the direction of the adventure!

With Wildwalk’s collection of mini beasts as inspiration and At-Bristol’s experienced story-telling team to help, there’s no excuse not to get involved in this fable-forming extravaganza. From snakes and scorpions to birds and butterflies, there are plenty of wild and wacky heroes to choose from!

But that’s not all; on Sunday 1 May you can also have a go at Haiku poetry writing and meet Haiku expert Alan Summers who will be on hand to offer hints and tips to get you started. Haiku poems are the shortest in the world - generally just three little lines long. They are fun and easy to write – in fact, in Japanese, ‘hai’ means amusement and ‘ku’ means verse. Inspired by observation of the world around us, Haiku should be read in the inhalation and exhalation of a single breath; so why not take up the challenge and see if you can write some punchy poetry!

Rachel Willis, At-Bristol’s Learning and Programmes Manager says, ’Wildstories is a really fun family event that will get everyone picking up a pen and getting creative! As well as writing stories of their own, visitors can also take part in a whole host of story telling activities and try their hand at Haiku too.’’

And if you’re still after more adventurous tales then head to the IMAX Theatre-At-Bristol to see Adventures in Animation 3D - an eye-popping animated film that’s cool, action-packed and will have you on the edge of your seat!
