Have a wild half term in At-Bristol
28 May – 5 June 2005

If you’re looking for a real adventure this May half term then head to the IMAX Theatre-At-Bristol for the new giant screen action film, Wild Safari 3D.

Don your pith helmet and hop into an open jeep to embark on a massive journey into South Africa’s game reserves in search of the big five - the continent’s most dangerous and spectacular animals. Be prepared to hold onto your seats as you experience the most incredible face-to-face encounters with charging elephants, boisterous Cape buffalo, rare rhinos, cunning leopard and lions on the prowl! Tickets to this breathtaking real-life adventure can be booked at normal IMAX prices in advance or on the day.

But the wild action doesn’t end there, in Wildwalk there’s a whole host of fun-packed activities taking place in the Live Science zone. You can go nuts about nature in Wildlife Games and take a closer look at amazing seeds, funky flowers and incredible skulls. Discover how sycamore seeds are similar to helicopter propellers, make your mark on a season’s spinner and take on the challenges of Guess Who? and wildlife snap!

Wildwalk will also host two unmissable one-day events over half-term, kicking off on Friday 3 June with Best of British, a unique opportunity to celebrate some of Britain’s most beautiful birds and mammals. Can you tell the difference between a stoat and a weasel? Do you know what moleskin feels like or how long hares’ ears are? Discover amazing animal facts in this artefact extravaganza run by At-Bristol and Bristol’s City Museum and Art Gallery. The celebrations continue on Sunday 5 June, with World Environment Day and Wildwalk’s special event Tales from the waste-coat - a colourful and imaginative story telling session with Martin Maudsley. Get inspired by the wonderful ways to watch waste, get creative with rubbish and build your own recycling stories to share. Both events run from 11am to 3pm.

Over in Explore, Einstein will be taking centre stage with a new brain-teasing show Exploring Einstein. Come and find out how Einstein’s discoveries of the extraordinary in the everyday led him to become one of the most famous scientists of all time. You can explore Einstein’s brain, take part in exciting games and demonstrations and you can even make your hair stand on end to look like the man himself! This thirty minute interactive show runs between 11am and 4pm daily and celebrates 100 years of Einstein’s greatest works.

Finally, don’t miss PuzzleMania!, Explore’s latest fun-packed temporary exhibition that will truly bamboozle the brain cells! From giant board games to cryptic challenges and mysterious mind teasers, there’s a whole host of interactive activities that reveal the wizard world of numbers and patterns in everyday life. You can be a pawn on a gigantic money board game, play 3D noughts crosses, speed chess, reflective jigsaws and try and crack the huge soma cube. PuzzleMania! is supported by Clerical Medial and is free with a ticket to Explore.
