Special teacher preview night in At-Bristol
16 June 2005
At 18.00 on Thursday 16 June, At-Bristol is offering teachers the chance
to preview Explore, Wildwalk and the IMAX Theatre, entirely free of
charge.
The evening will highlight At-Bristol’s three attractions and planetarium,
giving teachers a fantastic insight into the endless educational
opportunities and specialist learning resources available. Kicking off
with wine and nibbles, the event includes time for teachers to view all
the interactive exhibitions, take part in Live Science zone activities and
attend a screening of the new IMAX film, Wild Safari 3D.
Wildwalk will get a special focus during the evening with teachers being
able to trial an exciting new PDA (Personal Data Assistant) system.
Designed to add even more educational content to the Wildwalk experience,
the PDA’s will offer students the chance to go on an interactive trail
with games, quizzes and voting polls along the way. Plans for Wildwalk’s
new People and the Planet galley will also be highlighted. Opening in the
Autumn, the new gallery will communicate key biodiversity and
sustainability issues, with Europe’s first ever living walkthrough
tropical coral reef tank as the main attraction.
But the action doesn’t end there, At-Bristol is also home to the Science
Learning Centre South West, and teachers will have the opportunity to
investigate the state-of-the art facilities including a sneak preview of
the brand new teacher resource centre.
Throughout the evening, At-Bristol’s Learning team will be on hand to talk
about the diverse range of workshops, curriculum links and all aspects of
school visits.
Catherine Coombe, At-Bristol’s Schools Liaison Officer says, ‘The evening
is open to nursery, primary, secondary and post-16 education teachers as
well as home educators and it’s a great way to discover exactly what
At-Bristol has to offer. As well as being informative, the preview
provides a great social opportunity and is guaranteed to be great fun!’
Places for the teacher preview evenings are free of charge and up to ten
places are available per school. To book, please contact Catherine Coombe
