Let’s get physic-al in Explore-At-Bristol
11-12 June 2005
On 11-12 June, visitors to Explore-At-Bristol can experience even more
innovative live science with Physic-al, a unique dance works inspired by
physics, performed by the Bristol based Meridian Dance Theatre.
Communicating key physics topics including forces, colour, light and
sound, Physic-al is a dynamic, thought provoking show split into two
parts.
Kicking off the show is N-force, an energetic journey though the impact of
forces in the Galaxy, from the celestial dance of the planets to the
electro-static jiggle of atoms. Audiences will experience the talented
dancers expertly falling and leaping, demonstrating the impact of gravity
on the body.
The second piece Syn-Aesthesia combines dance, music and film to put the
audience in the shoes of those ten in a million people who hear colour and
taste shapes. Revealing the physical phenomena of light and sound, Syn-Aesthesia
explores how vision, hearing and sensation might collide in a carnival of
the senses.
Tamara Cater, Choreographer for the Meridian Dance Theatre says, ’The
stimulus of physics has allowed me to create something totally original –
full of rhythmical interest, unusual movement combinations and unexpected
moments of humour too. We’re delighted to be performing in At-Bristol, I
think the audience there will not only be amazed by how fascinating
physics can be but also how entertaining it can be too.’
Physic-al is free with a ticket to Explore-At-Bristol and is suitable for
all ages over 8. Performances will take place in the Live Science zone
studio at 2pm and 4pm on 11-12 June. Physic-al is supported by the Arts
Council England. For more information please view
