Dive to the alien depths of our planet in the IMAX Theatre
From 25 July 2005
This summer the IMAX Theatre At-Bristol will be taking viewers to the
dramatic depths of the ocean with a brand new film Aliens of the Deep 3D,
launching on 25 July 2005.
Academy Award® winning director James Cameron (Titanic‚ Ghosts of the
Abyss 3D)‚ combines his film-making talents with his personal passions as
a deep ocean adventurer, as he embarks on a 3D journey to reach Earth's
most extreme, deepest and unknown environments, encountering some of the
strangest life forms on the planet.
Aliens of the Deep 3D is the result of several dramatic and visually
stunning deep-sea expeditions to hydrothermal vent sites in the Mid-Ocean
Ridge‚ a submerged chain of mountains that winds 46‚000 miles around the
globe.
Cameron’s crew encounter weird and wonderful creatures that provide a
possible blueprint for the life that might exist beyond our planet‚
including 6-foot tall worms with blood-red plumes‚ white crabs‚ and an
astonishing biomass of blind‚ white shrimp. Unlike all other life on
Earth‚ these creatures are not dependent on sunlight and their ecosystems
are as close to alien as anything ever imagined.
Using state-of-the-art 3D technology, these creatures come to life,
appearing to swim into the audience to give viewers a closer look at the
aliens of our own world.
Simon Jones, At-Bristol’s Head of Marketing and IMAX says, ‘We had such a
fantastic response when we screened James Cameron’s Ghosts of the Abyss 3D
and I know Aliens of the Deep 3D will be just as popular. The film offers
such an incredible insight into life down in the depths of the ocean and
it’s an awe-inspiring sight not to be missed!’
