Biomedical science goes under the spotlight in At-Bristol
18 July - 29 August 2005

From 18 July to 29 August 2005, At-Bristol will showcase forty of the best entries submitted to Imagine, an amateur photographic competition run by the Wellcome Trust and the BBC.

From human cloning to 'Magical Maggot Chemistry', this stunning and thought-provoking touring exhibition demonstrates the broad spectrum of thoughts and opinions about the role of biomedical science in today's society.

Think back to a world without antibiotics, the contraceptive pill, vaccinations or even aspirin. Developments in biology and medical science have brought us new drugs and technologies that have changed our lives, expectations and the way we view our bodies and health. So what does the future have in store? Individuals and school groups from around the country were asked to submit photographs and captions to reflect how they think science is changing us – our minds, our bodies and the world around us.

Winning entries were announced at an exclusive prize-giving event at London’s Royal Albert Hall earlier this year and the exhibition has been touring the country’s top science centres since March. Imagine will on display in At-Bristol from 18 July in the IMAX Theatre foyer and Christopher Parsons Concourse. The exhibition will be open during normal working hours and is entirely free of charge.
