Discover the magic of India at the IMAX Theatre
7 October 2005
From 7 October 2005, the IMAX Theatre-At-Bristol will be taking viewers on
an epic journey of inspiration with the dramatic new giant-screen film
Mystic India 2D.
Revealing India’s ancient culture and civilization, intricate
architecture, colourful festivals and fascinating people, the film follows
the incredible real-life story of Neelkanth, an 11-year old boy who
embarked on an extraordinary journey though the wonders of mystic India.
From 1792-1799, Neelkanth walked alone, barefoot and without any maps,
food or warm clothing, exploring the length and breadth of this vast
majestic land, travelling 8,000 miles in seven years. He experienced an
adventure of hardships and survival, faith and fearlessness and the only
one of its sort in the history of humankind.
Narrated by Sir Peter O’Toole and created by the award-winning team of
director Keith Melton, cinematographer Reed Smoot and screenwriter Mose
Richards, Mystic India shows breath-taking footage of more than 100
locations. Audiences will experience India’s geographic and cultural
diversity, from the freezing peaks of the Himalayas to scorching deserts
and tropical rainforests, witnessing the sheer natural beauty of India as
well as the incredible achievements of its people.
Simon Jones, At-Bristol’s Head of Marketing and IMAX says, ’Mystic India
is an entertaining and visually stunning film which is spectacular on the
giant IMAX screen. The true diversity and colour of India is brought to
life and audiences will be captivated by Neelkanth’s incredible
adventure.’
Mystic India has been produced by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, a
volunteer-based NGO affiliated to the UN for Education, Culture and
Humanitarian Services. The film was created by a unique voluntary effort
to promote cultural co-existence, human harmony and universal values. More
than 45,000 BAPS volunteers helped recreate authentic scenes for the film,
including fascinating festivals that are among the largest and most
spectacular in the world.
