New Director of Exhibitions for At-Bristol
At-Bristol is delighted to announce the appointment of its
new Director of Exhibitions, Dan Bird. Dan joins the South West’s flagship
science centre as it moves into the new year with the goal to become a
leader in interactive exhibit development in the UK and beyond.
Having spent the past twelve years at Techniquest in Cardiff, with the
past five as Exhibitions Director, Dan has been instrumental in driving
the science discovery centre's major projects including the successful
Musiquest and The Look Out exhibitions.
Dan's new role will continue a similar theme in At-Bristol, developing a
new programme of touring exhibitions and leading partnership networks to
steer the attraction into recognition as a global exhibit developer. His
appointment is the second high profile professional from the Science
Centre world to join the attraction this year. He follows in the footsteps
of new Chief Executive, Dr. Goéry Delacôte, who was previously Executive
Director of the Exploritorium in San Francisco.
At-Bristol has recently secured major funding for future exhibitions and
Dan’s appointment will play a major part in taking these inspirational
projects forward. These include Lets Imagine - three interactive
exhibitions for under 8 year olds, Alice through the looking glass - an
illusions exhibition and The Forces that made I.K Brunel. He comments:
"At-Bristol is one of the most successful science discovery centres in the
UK and the new projects are both challenging and exciting. I am thrilled
to come and lead the exhibition development agenda and I'm really looking
forward to joining the team there."
At-Bristol has also recently seen the internal appointments of Catherine
Aldridge as the new Director of Exhibitions, Education and Programmes and
Kevin Lamb, Director of Income and Visitor Advocacy.
