GIANT ROGUE WAVE HITS IMAX
Poseidon: The IMAX Experience (2D) opens on 2 June

18 May 2006 – Escape to IMAX® Theatre-At-Bristol for the ultimate cinematic adventure of Poseidon: The IMAX Experience (2D) as the luxurious cruise liner embarks on its maiden voyage on 2 June. Audiences will be holding their breath as they come face-to-face with the monstrous wall of water over one hundred feet high when it plays out on the giant IMAX screen.

“Poseidon is a thrill ride,” says Academy Award nominated director Wolfgang Petersen. “We want people to feel as though they are on the ship when the giant wave hits. We want to pull them under the water and bring them back up to catch their breath. The IMAX format is so immersive, it’s perfectly designed to help draw audiences into the action.”

Poseidon: The IMAX Experience launches on 2 June along with the nationwide 35mm release from Warner Bros Pictures and is available in IMAX in the Southwest region only through the IMAX Theatre-At-Bristol. The movie is showing daily from 2 June with special sneak preview screenings on 1 June.

“At-Bristol is excited to be hosting this epic adventure at our IMAX theatre. With IMAX projection technology and remarkable sound systems, Poseidon will be mind-blowing on the giant screen. Seeing the monstrous wave crashing in is quite a sight and it’s certainly one to be seen in IMAX.” Says Simon Jones, Head of Marketing, At-Bristol.

After a rogue wave capsizes a luxury cruise ship in the North Atlantic, a small group of survivors find themselves unlikely allies in the ensuing battle for their lives in Poseidon. Determined to fight their way to the surface, they must forge a path upward through layers of wreckage as the ship continues to sink, drawing upon skills and strengths they didn’t even know they had, fighting against time for their own survival and for each other.

Starring Kurt Russell, Josh Lucas and Richard Dreyfuss, Poseidon is based on the novel by Paul Gallico.

Poseidon is digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of the IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (digital re-mastering) technology.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £6.50 for children and the movie is 12A certified. For bookings and film schedule please call 0845 345 1235 or visit the following links:
