Can recreating the conditions a billionth of a second after the Big Bang reveal the secrets of our Universe?

The Big Bang exhibition will lead you into the world of one of the greatest experiments of all time; one which could unlock some of the biggest mysteries of the universe.

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a gigantic experiment buried deep underground on the French-Swiss border at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory. The LHC will enable scientists to recreate the conditions that existed in the universe just after the Big Bang, over 13 billion years ago. By looking for the very smallest particles created, scientists hope to answer fundamental questions about the world around us and make new discoveries on the nature of mass and matter.

Find out how they built the LHC, take an up-close look at part of the particle accelerator and play a game to hunt for the elusive Higgs particle.

This is a Science Museum travelling exhibition and is supported by the Science and Technology Facilities Council.
