Local Photographers have an Eye For
Colour
From Saturday November 1st until November 30th, members
of the Bristol discussion group on photo sharing website
Flickr (www.flickr.com/groups/Bristol)
will be exhibiting at Explore-At-Bristol’s new art space ‘Light Box’
in Café-At-Bristol following the theme of one of Explore’s
current exhibitions, Eye For Colour.
The Flickr network is one of the world’s biggest online
photo sharing applications. Bristol have their own
‘discussion’ group within the network and the members are
naming their exhibition "Flickl" - an affectionate local
in-joke based on the Bristolian dialect. The photos that
will be on display have been carefully chosen as many
depict a mixture of the essence of Bristol, as well as
being about colour.
The Café is open all day, every day and the photographs
are for sale with a percentage going towards raising funds
for Explore-At-Bristol’s educational work. |

With three new exhibitions, Eye for Colour, In the Jungle
and Big Bang, plus the family friendly Café-At-Bristol,
there's plenty to come and do at Explore over the half
term! If you've never visited the Planetarium before, or
have been but it was a while ago, it's now showing the
Autumn night sky so a perfect place to learn all about the
UK night sky and what to look for from your own bedroom or
garden.
There is also a new show that you can see throughout the
day, called Kaleidoshow - take part in some illuminating
experiments and meet some iridescent characters in our new
family show all about colour. Discover if purple makes you
forget things, dress up as a famous colour scientist from
the past and watch your friends and family turn red!
You can stay for as little or as long as you like on a day
out to Explore. Any time you get hungry or thirsty you can
take a break and go to the Café then having revitalised
yourselves, get back to playing with all the exciting
exhibits. Both Kaleidoshow and the Planetarium are free

Exhibition - Slow Light, 6 month solar journey over
Bristol
27 September - 31 October
Explore-At-Bristol has its own exciting new exhibition
space for art work in Café-At-Bristol, the recently
revamped café adjoining Explore. Called ‘Light Box’, the
new space is launching by showcasing one of the world’s
leading Pinhole photographers, Justin Quinnell.
Bristol artist Justin, is holding his first exhibition of
his Bristol work at Explore in September. ‘Slow Light - a
6 month solar journey over Bristol’ will hang in the
windows of Café-At-Bristol facing both into Millennium
Square and into the Café for everyone to see. His work has
taken over six months to create having placed pinhole
cameras in various locations around the city to follow the
sun trailing across the sky from the winter solstice (22
December 2007) to the summer solstice (20 June 2008).

New look and new name for Explore's
café!
With the reopening of Explore on Saturday 20th and the
new look foyer and exhibitions, also came a completely new
look for the Café. Now much more family friendly with big
bench style seating, a lower service area, better menu and
a lovely new green colour scheme, plus a much bigger
entrance between the Café and the foyer, it's made it much
easier to relax and feed the family before or after
visiting Explore.
