Under 6's at Explore
These are some of the exhibits we think children under six will
particularly enjoy.
Throughout Explore there are blue footstools for
children to use. Explainers in purple shirts are available on the floor
to answer any questions during your visit.
Explore is divided into four zones over two
floors.
Ground floor
Your amazing brain
is on the left-hand side of the ground
floor as you enter Explore.
Jumping skeleton
This exhibit is near the entrance of Explore.
Make the skeleton move by poking his brain.
Tunnel of senses
The Tunnel of senses contains
activities specially designed for children under six.
Smell-o-film
This exhibit is in a booth near the window.
The film shows the journey of a fly with "smell horns" allowing you to
smell the fly’s journey. Can you guess what each smell is?
Feel my tummy
This exhibit is near the babies at the back of
Explore. Stand on the coloured square and put your hand on the dummy
mummy’s tummy. What can you feel?
Before birth
Life size models from one month to nine months
gestation for children to hold
Move it
is on the right hand side of the ground floor as you enter Explore.

Waterworks
Lots of watery activities - from locks and
boats, to a giant hamster wheel to lift water.
Bernoulli Blower
Children can play with a floating beach
ball.
Arch bridge
Near the back of Move it there are
two arch bridges for children to build together. |
