At-Bristol is flying high!
Tue 17 August 2010
For three days, At-Bristol is welcoming experts in the field of flight from Airbus as part of its Meet the Expert series, and to continue its celebrations of the south west’s 100 years of flight.
The idea behind the events is to allow visitors to get more involved with people from various industries, walks of life and backgrounds to vary the experience they get when they come to At-Bristol, but also to learn more about different areas of science. The flight theme is also part of the current At-Bristol programme with the family show, Altitude, and the Live Science zone being all about flight.
The Airbus team will be running activities such as Meet the Expert interactions, where visitors can talk to the experts about flight-themed topics, try to put together a jigsaw puzzle of a wing and see a landing gear model amongst other things. There is also a second part of the day which are workshops designed for families will involve people designing paper aeroplanes to see who can make the most efficient one.
Airbus will be in At-Bristol on 17, 18, 19 August, 10am - 4pm and the workshops will take place at 11:30, 13:00 and 15:00 and will last about 30 minutes each. These sessions are free with a ticket to At-Bristol and are suitable for families with children ages eight and above.
Lee Pullen, Learning Communicator of At-Bristol, said: “Airbus have helped us with other things in the past, such as providing funding for our flight show, and the augmented reality landing gear in the venue so it’s great to have them on-board (excuse the pun!) for even more activities!”
